Negril
Travel one and a half hours from famous Montego Bay and you will find yet another paradise in Jamaica, Negril. A laid-back resort town located in the country’s western edge features excellent beaches and amenities and is another favorite destination of foreign tourists. Although the famous beaches at Negril measures only a little over four miles, the place has become known as the 7-mile beach.

The place features some of the most stunning and exclusive resorts in the country but there are also many family-operated inns that offer affordable accommodations. Along the West End Road at the southern part of Negril, many resort-hotels offer fun adventures and privacy. Also known as the Cliff area, the West End Road has easy access to the ocean so travelers can also enjoy snorkeling and cliff-diving.

Many parts of Negril remain underdeveloped but these parts only add to the charm of the town. Still, developments are expected to happen to many parts of the town soon because of the highway that is being built from Montego Bay. The developments in Negril are expected to improve the attractions and pull in even more tourists. Now, there are already some beautiful developments along the 7-mile beach, among them the addition of a duty free zone and some beautiful resorts.

Once in Negril, you will feel completely satisfied just by soaking up the sun, strolling at the white-sand beaches, and enjoying the sights. Still, if you want an adventure-filled vacation, there are many activities to fill your days. Aside from the usual water sports- scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skiing, and sailing, you can also play other outdoor sports such as tennis and golf. The Negril Hills Golf Club, also at the southern part of the town, will allow you to enjoy these activities. You can go on boat rides at the Booby Cay and go on a horse-riding trek at the ruins of the WhiteHall Great House. Tourists who want to enjoy even more thrills can go sea kayaking and mountain biking.

Nature lovers will enjoy the amazing coral reefs at the Negril Scuba Center. The Negril Marine Park on the other hand covers approximately 160 square meters of natural resources. At the end of each day, the clear blue skies turn into a canvass of mauve, orange and red hues.

Another favorite attraction in Negril is the historic Negril Lighthouse, a structure built in 1894 at the westernmost part of the town. Originally powered by Kerosene, the Lighthouse now runs on solar power. As an added attraction, early in the day, dolphins swim in the sea surrounding the lighthouse.

Negril is not called the Capital of Casual for nothing. Fly to the laid-back town and enjoy the simple treats and the affordable luxuries the town has to offer. There is no doubt the place will make you want to stay.
