Mandeville
The south coast of Jamaica has just recently attracted tourist. The “English Town,” Mandeville, has preserve the old Jamaica where there are only few luxurious hotels and inns within the area, but the unscathed beaches and the old-fashioned locals make Mandeville an adventurous place to visit.

Mandeville has a long and great history. The Arawak were one of the earliest civilizations to settle in Mandeville. They live in simplicity along the long bay of Mandeville. After the civilization of the Arawak vanished, Early Spanish settlers sailed into the shores of Mandeville in search for gold. Its history projects of what to expect to see and experience in the relaxing, beautiful, and marvelous town of Mandeville.

Traditional markets are still standing in Mandeville. Fresh fish catch of fishermen are sold in these markets; the restaurants are as old as 20 to 30 years and their still serve the same food served in the 1950’s with the price unchanged back then. You might also encounter hotels and inns with old ceiling fans rather than air-conditioning system.

Even though Mandeville is not as developed as the other town in Jamaica, its beaches can match the top beaches in Jamaica. Most Mandeville visitors have taken their tour first at Negril through Savanna-la-Mar to the high-country. After they have relaxed in the remote and laid-back town of Mandeville, they continue their adventure through a boat tour to the Black River.

Mandeville is a British-style town as it is dominantly influence by the British culture (that is why it is called the “English Town”).
