 U.S. and Canadian Citizen are free to go to St. Martin with any identification card or document if they are staying not more than 2 weeks.  If they will stay longer a passport will be needed.  European Citizens need to show an identity card and a passport. Same goes to French citizens.  Citizens of other countries are required to have a passport and a visa.
