 St. Martin has two airports to fly you through the island, St Maarten’s Queen Juliana International Airport with Tel no. 599/54-54211, or you can fly through the smaller L’Esperance Airport in Grand-Case on French St. Martin, with numbers 590/87-53-03.

 Also coming in from St. Barts, you have the options of at least two airlines flying the short route directly to your paradise destination of St. Martin. They are Air Guadeloupe with Tel no. 590/87-53-74 and Air Caraïbes Tel no. 590/87-73-46. these two airports maintains 15 and 20 daily flights, a quite busy a airport for a small island, each arriving for about 10 minutes in duration from St. Barthelemy, about a third of which land at L'Espérance.

 Approximate flight times: From St Maarten to London-via Amsterdam is 12 to 14 hours, to Los Angeles it takes 9 hours, to New York is about 4 hours and 10 minutes, to St Croix is 45 minutes and to Singapore is 33 hours, all depending on connections.Taxis are easily available everywhere for your convenience, Airport facilities include a bank, an ATM machines, a restaurant, refreshments, duty-free shopping and a car rental. L’Esperance Airport is in the French sector, and is smaller and not equipped for jets and other big planes.

 Currency: Euro is the official currency at the island on the French side. The Euro fluctuates regularly and the exchange rate is roughly 1 Euro to $1.25. The official currency on the Dutch side is the Netherlands Antilles guilder (florin). The guilder is constant with the dollar at NAf 1.80 to $1.00. The US dollar is accepted everywhere on the island and the conversions will be done for you as you pay. Most prices are listed and tagged in the local currency on both sides of the island.

 Departure Tax: The government requires a departure tax to be paid when leaving the island. Airport departures from princess Juliana International Airport are US $30.00 for all flights to non-Antillian destinations and US $10.00 for all Antillian destinations. Transit passengers and children under two years of age are exempted.

 By the sea: St Maarten is a leading port for cruise liners. Ferry services operate to Saba, St Kitts, Nevis and St. Barthelemy. Cruises operated by Holland America, Cunard, Prince's Cruise, and Royal Viking regularly stop at Philipsburg.
