The Cayman Islands is a British Overseas Territory located in the Western Caribbean, 480 miles south of Miami, Florida, 150 miles south of Cuba and 180 miles northwest of Jamaica.
By jet, the Cayman Islands is only a 70-minute direct flight from Miami Which is provided by Cayman Airways and American Airlines. The main passenger airport in the Cayman Islands, "Owen Roberts International Airport", is located on the largest of the Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman. The sister island of Cayman Brac also has its own airport the "Gerrard Smith International Airport". These two airports serve as the Cayman Islands main ports of entry for visitors. Little Cayman is served by daily inter-island flights. The Civil Aviation Authority oversees airport operations, and maintains and improves the airports.The Civil Aviation Authority is the regulatory body that controls the aviation industry throughout the Cayman Islands.Their mission is to provide a safe and efficient environment for the movement of aircraft and people in accordance with international and national practices.
You can secure latest tourist publications, brochures and other information you may need during a visit to the Cayman Islands at the Visitor Information booth provided by The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism in the Customs hall of the Owen Robert International Airport. There are more than 108 weekly flights into Owen Roberts International Airport including 70 flights each week between Miami and Grand Cayman with connections to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.
Approximate flight times: From London to Grand Cayman is 9 hours 55 minutes and from Miami to Grand Cayman is 1 hour 5 minutes. From Miami to Cayman Brac is 1 hour and 35 minutes. International airports:Grand Cayman (GCM) (Owen Roberts International Airport) is 2.5km (1.5 miles) east of the city. Taxis are available to the centre (travel time – ten minutes). Airport facilities include an outgoing duty-free shop for all international departures, banks/bureaux de change, post office, car hire and a bar/restaurant (open for all arrivals and departures). Cayman Brac (CYB) (Gerard Smith Airport) is 8km (5 miles) from the town. Taxis meet all flights (travel time – ten minutes).

Island Air Island Air (345-949-5252) based at Owen Roberts International Airport, offers scheduled daily inter-island service between Grand Cayman and Little Cayman and Cayman Brac. Island Air flies from Grand Cayman to the Sister Islands four times each day via 19-passenger turboprop Twin Otter, 9-passenger Navajo Chieftain and 9-passenger Islander aircraft. Charter service and flightseeing trips are also available upon request.The flight between Grand Cayman and the Sister Islands is approximately 40 minutes.
SEA: Grand Cayman is one of the most popular Caribbean ports and a busy port of call for leading international cruise lines operating from North America, Mexico and Europe.The Cayman Islands are legally supposed to limit the number of cruise passengers to 6000 (three to four ships) per day.Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the busiest days in port. There is no cruise ship dock and passengers are ferried ashore by tenders to the North or South dock terminals in George Town.
