Bermuda Beaches Print E-mail

Are you a beach buff?  Do you long for the fun and spontaneity of beaches?  If your answer is yes, then you might want to consider Bermuda.

The island has an impressive array of public beaches just right for the irrepressible beach bum.  You might have overheard, and eventually wondered, about the pink sand beaches of Bermuda.  Well, satiate your interest then.  See, and feel, for yourself the island’s blushing tracts of sand which actually resulted from the blending of shell particles, calcium carbonate, and grains of crushed coral with sand. The shores of Bermuda indeed hold a lot of promise to vacationers.   Certainly, it will be a delightful experience everytime.  To spend time, idly or otherwise, in Bermudian beaches will be such a treat.

The tandem of Chaplin and Stonehole Bays, fronting South Shore Park, are famed for their so-called disappearing act!  These tiny adjacent beaches almost disappear at high tide.  A high coral wall reaching across the beach to the water, perforated by a 10-feet high arrowhead-shape hole, adorns Stonehole.

If the sight of clear water, a 1/3-mile crescent of pink sand, a vibrant social scene, and the uncluttered backdrop of South Shore Park entice you then Horseshoe Bay Beach is the place that you should not miss while combing through Bermuda.  John Smith's Bay warrants consideration as well.  With quaint houses and the South Road by the background, it is worth a visit.  A pleasing shore of long, flat, open sand also ornaments this beach.  In addition, the presence of a lifeguard in summer makes it an ideal place to bring children.

For those looking for more isolated spots, Somerset Long Bay is for you. The beach’s roughly ¼ mile, crescent-shaped sandy shores is set on the quiet northwestern end of Bermuda, far from the bustle of Hamilton and major tourist hubs.

Warwick Long Bay comes highly recommended for sun-worshippers. Take a hike at its less of half mile shore, just to prime your body for the cool, clear waters of the bay that boasts of a 20 feet coral outcrop off its coast.
